Seeking your views: quality assurance of TNE

A joint International Unit/Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) consultation has been launched to determine the need for quality assurance in transnational education (TNE)

International Higher Education Forum 2014: 
Recruiting and retaining students: fundamental tools for international strategy

While long-term opportunities such as Transnational Education will play an important role for the UK higher education sector, the recruitment and retention of international students are fundamental to the success of a university’s international strategy. 

HEGlobal brings together UK Government, sector and other expertise and experience to support UK universities’ transnational education activities. 

HEGlobal was launched with a website by Minister for Universities David Willetts, in early 2012. Phase two began in September 2013. 

Taiwan open for collaboration

University leaders should take the opportunity to visit Taiwan whilst travelling in East Asia, according to Professor Sir Eric Thomas, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bristol, as there are significant opportunities for both research collaborations and additional students and staff mobility.

International Director awarded MBE

Dr Joanna Newman, Director of the International Unit has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List 2014 for her services to the promotion of higher education internationally, particularly in Brazil.

UK Higher Education Survey of European Activity

The survey's purpose is to highlight the UK HE sector’s involvement in the Bologna Process and European Union (EU) initiatives; to facilitate the sharing of good practice in this area; and to inform the UK HE International Unit’s future work with regard to Europe. 

International Unit delegation to Chile and Argentina

The International Unit is leading a delegation to Chile and Argentina from March 17 -21, with support from the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office. The delegation will be led by Professor Colin Grant, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation at the University of Bath and a member of the International Unit’s International Strategic Advisory Board.
