Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce that the School of Modern Languages at Bangor University will be launching a ‘Languages for All’ programme from September 2014. This will enable all registered students at Bangor to take an evening class in one of six languages: Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. Students may choose to take this as an elective module (if their home School allows them to do so), or alternatively as an extra-curricular module; in both cases, the modules will be free of charge to students.

Please find enclosed a number of posters to advertise the programme in your School. It would be much appreciated if you could mention the programme during the forthcoming Admissions Days, as we hope that it will prove attractive to potential applicants.

In an increasingly competitive global market, language skills are becoming all the more important, with businesses frequently looking abroad to recruit because British graduates lack the necessary language skills. We hope that this programme will help to boost the employability of Bangor students, as well as enhance the university’s internationalisation programme through developing cultural awareness and opening doors to new opportunities.

If you have any questions regarding the programme, please feel free to get in touch.

 Best wishes,

Anna Saunders
